Cruisin'
I'm delighted to report that what I always hoped would happen has happened: A vanner -- that is, a custom-van enthusiast -- has discovered the Junkers song "Custom Van," and it now is the song that plays on his MySpace page. Another MySpace vanner already has asked to be a friend of the Junkers, and I am hoping "Custom Van" spreads like ditchweed through the vanner community.
"Custom Van" is probably my favorite of the songs I've written. A fond tribute to hobbyists and gearheads everywhere, it was inspired by a rare and delightful coffee table book about the lifestyle, Alan Wolfe's Vans and Vanners.

"One of my professor friends said that the challenge of teaching is to read the same bad papers over and over again unto the end of time, yet remain optimistic that some of your students will someday write something good even though you will never see it."
